IT Guidelines for New Staff
  1. Account Activation

 

 

  1. Wireless Network

 

  • Please turn on “Wi-Fi”.
  • Please select “HKUSTGZ”.
  • Please enter the username “email account”.
  • Please enter the password “email password”.
  • For Android phones, please choose “Not Validate” for the CA Certificate; while for iPhone, please “Trust” the Certificate.

 

 

  1. Wired Network

 

Please enable the wired network by connecting the network cable to the computer.

 

  1. Office Facilities

 

  • Get the office computer from the department administrator.
  • Download and install the general office software through ITD Website – Download Center.

 

  1. Campus Card Application

  1. Printer

 

  • Download drivers through DingTalk Drive;
  • After submitting the print task, enter the email account password for authentication;
  • Swipe the card on the printer scanner and run the printing task.

 

 

  1. IP Telephony

 

(1) Internal

 

  • Within the GZ campus:

 

For internal dialing with the Guangzhou campus, please directly dial the last four digits. E.g., if the number is 88330000, please dial 0000.

 

  • GZ campus to CWB campus:

 

Please dial “8” + the last four digits. E.g., if the number is 12345678, please dial 85678.

 

  • CWB campus to GZ campus:

 

Please dial “1” + the last four digits. E.g., if the number is 12346666, please dial 16666.

 

(2) External

 

  • Local (within Guangzhou)

 

Please dial “9” + telephone number (landline/mobile), e.g., 912345678/ 912345678901.

 

  • Non-local (outside Guangzhou in the Chinese mainland, excluding Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan)

 

A. Landline: Please dial “9” + “0” + district number + telephone number, e.g., 902012345678.

B. Mobile: Please dial “9” + “0” + mobile number, e.g., 9012345678901.

 

  • Non-local (outside the Chinese mainland)

A. Landline: Please dial “9” + “0” + country/region number + district number (if any) + telephone number, e.g., 900862012345678.

B. Mobile: Please dial “9” + “0” + country/region number + telephone number, e.g., 9008612345678901.

 

  1. Voicemail

Please dial 1000 and enter your PIN code as prompted (The default PIN code is the 8-digit telephone number, which can be changed as prompted). Then, please follow the voice instructions.
